U.S. ARMY SPECIAL FORCES AND BLACKHAWK HELICOPTER AIR ASSAULTS TO HIGHLIGHT U.S. ARMYS NEW GAME MISSIONS AT E3 SHOW
WHAT: The U.S. Army will unveil tomorrow, May 14th, new roles and missions featuring Special Forces, the Stryker Combat Brigade and Combat Medics that it will incorporate into its highly successful Americas Army PC game. The Army is presenting the game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (May 14th-16th) in Los Angeles. Americas Army, which provides civilians with an inside perspective and a virtual role in the U.S. Army, has become an online phenomenon and is currently one of the most popular PC action games being played online.
The Army will also present a set of dynamic demonstrations at the show to highlight the high fidelity with which its Americas Army game portrays Army capabilities, operations, units and technologies:
EVENTS:
Air Assault Demonstration (Outside). Soldiers will rappel from a Blackhawk helicopter hovering at heights of almost 100ft. The air assault demonstrations will take place directly across from the South Hall entrance to the LA Convention Center. Wed. - 9:45, 2:00. Thurs. - 9:30, 1:30. Fri. - 9:30, 1:00.
Gabriel Demonstration (2352 West Hall) Special Forces Soldiers will render this formalized presentation of the capabilities of a Special Forces detachment. Wed. 11:00, 3:00, 5:00. Thurs. 10:00, 3:00. Fri -10:00, 2:30.
Combat Search and Rescue (2352 West Hall). Soldiers will enact a rescue of a downed helicopter crew in a combat setting. The rescue will feature a Special Forces security team at the helicopter crash site, an embedded reporter, and an air assault insertion of a medical evacuation team. Wed. 12:00, 4:00. Thurs. -11:00, 4:00, 5:00, Fri. - 11:00, 3:00
Tournaments (2352 West Hall). Soldiers from Fort Drum and Fort Lewis will join online game tournaments including the final match of the America's Army Ultimate Arena E3 Tournament (Thursday, 12:00) against a team of four civilians. Other tournaments will take place Wed. - 1:00, Friday 12:00.
South Entrance Vehicles Displays. Visitors to E3 will find the Armys new Stryker Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV) as well as a Scout HUMMV stationed at the South Entrance to the Convention Center.
